The pikoura design means the journey of life, friendship and joining of people.

The three curves represent the stages of development - early childhood, teenage years, and finally becoming part of the community.

Each part of the pikoura incorporates a design element important to our Bream Bay community – the harakeke represents Patuharakeke - our iwi; the tartan pattern represents the Scottish ancestry in Waipu, and Mt Manaia represented at the bottom of the design is our maunga who watches over us.
